Trstené pri Hornáde (until 1948 Slovak "Nádošť"; Hungarian Abaújnádasd - until 1907 Nádasd ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,559 (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of Košický kraj belongs. It is part of the traditional Abov landscape .

The community is located in the Košická kotlina basin on the left bank of the Hornád , which from here forms the border with Hungary for a short section , and at the foot of the Slanské vrchy mountains to the east . The Hungarian border runs south of the village, and there has also been a road connection to Kéked, Hungary, since 2013 . The center of the village is at an altitude of 204  m nm and is 23 kilometers from Košice .

Neighboring municipalities are Ždaňa in the north, Skároš in the northeast and east, Hollóháza (H) in the southeast, Kéked (H) in the south, Seňa in the west and Gyňov in the northwest.

history

Today's municipality was already settled in prehistoric times, with finds from the Old Stone Age, New Stone Age ( Bükker culture ), Hallstatt times and Roman times. In the 9-11 In the 19th century there was a Slavic settlement here.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1215 as Zaka and at that time it belonged to the Abaújvár Castle estate . But towards the middle of the 13th century the village was deserted, probably as a result of the devastating Mongol storm . A new establishment took place in 1265 and the new place is recorded in a document as Nadasd in 1270 and was mainly inhabited by Magyars. In the 13th and 14th centuries, Nádasd was the seat of a manor and was also the site of a toll station. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Aba and Drugeth families , after 1508 to the city of Kosice.

In the 18th century, the now Slovak-Hungarian village belonged to the Sóos and Bónis families . In 1828 there were 123 houses and 1203 inhabitants, who were mainly employed in agriculture.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945. In 1948 the name "Nádošť", which sounded too Hungarian, was changed to "Trstené pri Hornáde" (Slovak trsť = Hungarian nád = German reed ) for national political reasons .

population

According to the 2011 census, Trstené pri Hornáde had 1,523 inhabitants, of whom 1,347 were Slovaks, 17 Roma, four Magyars, three Poles and two Czechs. 150 residents gave no information in this regard. 1228 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 59 residents to the Reformed Church, 14 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, seven residents to the Old Catholic Church, five residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Evangelistic Church and one resident to the Baha'iite; two residents professed a different denomination. 43 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 160 residents was not determined.
