Košická Polianka (until 1948 Slovak "Polianka" - to 1927 "Polanka"; Hungarian Lengyelfalva ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,037 (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of Košický kraj , heard.

geography

The municipality is located in the southern part of the Košická kotlina basin , mainly on the left bank of the Torysa . The center of the village is at an altitude of 195  m nm and is 10 kilometers away from Košice .

Neighboring communities are Sady nad Torysou in the north, Olšovany and Vyšný Čaj in the east, Vyšná Hutka in the south and Košice ( Krásna district ) in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1335 as Lengenfolua and was alternately owned by the families Czudar , Perényi , Palásthy and Wieland . At the same time, the abbey owned part of the goods in the neighboring town of Krásna. In 1508 the village was in the territory of the city of Kosice. In 1828 there were 81 houses and 552 inhabitants who worked as gardeners (especially in vegetable growing), carters and farmers. A distillery was built in the second half of the 19th century and operated until the late 20th century.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938-45.

According to the 2011 census, Košická Polianka had 973 residents, including 716 Slovaks , 52 Roma , three Magyars and one German and one Czech . 200 inhabitants did not provide any information on ethnicity .

694 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 19 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 10 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, seven residents to the Reformed Church, three residents to the Apostolic Church and two residents to the Orthodox Church. 24 residents had no denomination and the denomination was not determined for 214 residents.
