history

The current municipality was settled in the Stone Age, with finds from the Bükker culture , from the Hallstatt period , later from the Latène period , from the Roman period and from the early Middle Ages.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1340 as Uifalu , on the occasion of the division of the property of the deceased team from Tornau, Tekus . A certain János , son of László , who was himself the son of Tekus , received the place and was later the founder of the Tornay family . In 1406 there were two mills in the village and in 1715 there were four. In 1828 there were 69 houses and 560 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds and farmers. Two fires in 1903 and 1904 destroyed large parts of the village.

Until 1918/1919 the place in Abaúj-Torna County (until 1882 in Torna County ) belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia, or now Slovakia. Between 1938 and 1944 it belonged again to Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .

In 1964 Turnianska Nová Ves became part of the new municipality Nová Bodva together with the neighboring communities Hosťovce and Chorváty . In 1991 this municipality was dissolved and since then Turnianska Nová Ves has been independent again.
