Zádiel (until 1927 "Zadiel" in Slovak; Szádelő in Hungarian ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 159 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). Administratively it belongs to the Okres Košice-okolie , which is part of the Košický kraj district .
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovak Karst , more precisely in the Turnianska kotlina basin , on the Blatnica stream . To the north of the village is the Zádielska tiesňava (German Gorge of Zádiel), a valley that emerged as a breakthrough from Blatnica through a plateau of the Slovak Karst and is up to 400 meters deep and only 10 meters wide in places. Zádiel is 32 kilometers from Rožňava and 41 kilometers from Košice .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1317. It belonged to various local junkers and has belonged to the Turňa Castle since the 16th century. In 1828 the village had 44 houses and 369 inhabitants.
Until 1919 the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was again part of Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration . From 1964 to 1990 it was part of the municipality Zádielske Dvorníky with the neighboring towns of Dvorníky and Včeláre, which after the dissolution form the municipality Dvorníky-Včeláre .
