Malá Ida ( Hungarian Kisida ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,741 (December 31, 2019). It is located in Okres Košice-okolie , a part of Košický kraj .

geography

The municipality is located immediately west of the city of Košice . The approximately 10 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Ida valley . The eponymous river enters the flat terrain of the Košická kotlina basin a few kilometers south of Malá Ida from the southeastern foothills of the Slovak Ore Mountains . To the east of the Ida, the community area is covered by dense deciduous forests over a length of six kilometers. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 292  m nm , the highest points in the municipality are the elevations Stavenčik in the south-east with 341 m and Kodydóm in the south-west (362 m above sea level).

Neighboring municipalities of Malá Ida are Bukovec in the north, Veľká Ida in the north, Baška in the northeast, Košice (districts Lorinčík and Poľov ) in the east, Košice- Šaca in the south and Šemša in the west.

The counterpart to Malá Ida - the municipality Veľká Ida ( Greater Ida ) - is located about eight kilometers downstream.

history

The village was first mentioned in writing as Feld Ida in 1280 . In the year 1300 there is a mention of lands called Omodeus dictus Fejes de Ida in a document . There is evidence that a water mill was in operation in 1324. In 1910, 437 mostly Slovak-speaking people lived in Kisida, with a Hungarian-speaking minority. Until the Treaty of Trianon the village belonged to Abaúj-Torna County in the Kingdom of Hungary, from then on Malá Ida / Kisida belonged to Czechoslovakia like all places in Abaúj-Torna County . After the First Vienna Arbitration , these communities were once again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

In 1406 Malá Ida came to the Spiš Chapter together with the nearby Šebastovce .

According to the results of the 2001 census, Malá Ida had 1035 inhabitants, including those

  • 97.97% Slovaks,
  • 0.77% Roma.

88.9% of the residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church.

Attractions

  • The Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary ( Rímskokatolícky kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie ) is in the center of the village. A stone church without a tower is documented in the same place as early as 1347.

Economy and Infrastructure

In addition to agriculture and forestry, tourism (hotel and restaurant industry) is playing an increasingly important role in Malá Ida. There is also a grocery store in town that makes pasta.

The residents work in industry, retail or tourism, or commute to the nearby city of Košice . For some years now, Malá Ida has been a preferred home location for residents of Košice who are looking for peace and quiet but still don't want to miss the advantages of the big city. The good offers of local public transport also contribute to this.

The trunk road from Košice to Jasov (road 548) runs through the municipality . This is crossed in Malá Ida by the road from Bukovec to Šaca .
