Vtáčkovce (until 1948 Slovak "Ptáčkovce"; Hungarian Patacskő - older Patacskó ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,196 (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of Košický kraj heard.

geography

The village is located in the eastern part of the Košická kotlina basin in the Trstianka brook valley . The center of the village is at an altitude of 390  m nm and is 20 kilometers from Košice .

Neighboring municipalities are Bunetice in the north and northeast, Kecerovce in the east and south, Ploské in the west and Varhaňovce in the northwest.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1427 as Pathay . At that time the village in the Lipovec domain had 10 portals . In 1787 the village had 18 houses and 130 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 22 houses and 185 inhabitants who were employed as foresters and farmers.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, Vtáčkovce had 935 inhabitants, including 454 Roma , 367 Slovaks and one Magyar . 113 residents gave no information on ethnicity .

558 residents professed their support for the Roman Catholic Church, 123 residents for the Greek Catholic Church, 47 residents for the Apostolic Church, 40 residents for the Evangelical Church AB, four residents for the New Apostolic Church, two residents each for the Baptists, the Orthodox Church and the Pentecostal movement and a resident of the Methodist Church. Seven residents had no denomination and the denomination of 149 inhabitants was not determined.
