history

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1220 and was on a stretch of land inhabited by German settlers. Initially, the place was not an independent municipality, but part of the medieval village of Középnémeti . Since the 16th century the proportion of Germans has steadily decreased and since then the population has been divided between Hungarians and Slovaks.

Until 1918 the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938-45.

In 1964 the places Kechnec and Milhosť merge to form the municipality called Hraničná pri Hornáde , which was incorporated into the municipality of Seňa in 1986. In 1993 Milhosť spun off from Seňa and has since become an independent municipality again.
