Milhosť (until 1948 Slovak "Migléc"; Hungarian Migléc , older even Miglécnémeti ; German Mitter German village or Mühlgast ) is a municipality and a town in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 397 (December 31, 2019). It is located in Okres Košice-okolie , a part of Košický kraj .

Milhosť is located in the south of the Košická kotlina basin on the Hungarian border on the right bank of the Sokoliansky potok , 22 kilometers south of Košice .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1220 and was on a stretch of land inhabited by German settlers. Initially, the place was not an independent municipality, but part of the medieval village of Középnémeti . Since the 16th century the proportion of Germans has steadily decreased and since then the population has been divided between Hungarians and Slovaks.
Until 1918 the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938-45.
In 1964 the places Kechnec and Milhosť merge to form the municipality called Hraničná pri Hornáde , which was incorporated into the municipality of Seňa in 1986. In 1993 Milhosť spun off from Seňa and has since become an independent municipality again.
