Vyšná Myšľa (until 1927 Slovak "Vyšná Misla"; Hungarian Felsőmislye ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 966 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of kraj Košický heard.
geography
The community is located in the southeast of the Košická kotlina basin on the slope of the Slanské vrchy mountains to the east , on the left bank of the Oľšava . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 233 m nm and is 16 kilometers away from Košice .
Neighboring municipalities are Bohdanovce in the north, Rákoš in the east, Skároš in the south, Ždaňa in the southwest and Nižná Myšľa in the west.
history
Vyšná Myšľa was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1325 as Fel Misle and belonged to the estate of the provost in the neighboring town of Nižná Myšľa. In 1427, 25 porta were recorded according to a tax register. In 1720 there were four inhabited households here, in 1828 there were 116 houses and 854 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Between 1938 and 1944 it belonged again to Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Vyšná Myšľa had 951 residents, 893 of whom were Slovaks , three Czechs and one German , one Magyar and one Ukrainian . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 51 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
829 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 19 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, nine residents to the Reformed Church and two residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Orthodox Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 22 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 66 inhabitants was not determined.
