Bidovce (German Bidowetz , Hungarian Magyarbőd - until 1902 Bőd ) is a municipality in southeast Slovakia .
The municipality of Bidovce is located about 15 kilometers east of Košice in the Olšava valley , a 50-kilometer tributary of the Hornád . East of Bidovce rises the Slanské vrchy mountain range with the 856 meter high Bogota . The mountain cut between Bidovce and Sečovce with a pass height of 473 meters ( Dargovpass , Dargovský priesmyk ) is used by the European route 50 , which leads over the mountains.
Neighboring municipalities of Bidovce are Čakanovce in the north, Nižná Kamenica in the northeast, Svinica in the east and south, Olšovany in the southeast (point of contact), Ďurďošík in the west and Trsťany in the northwest.
In Bidovce, trunk road 576 ( Bohdanovce - Vranov nad Topľou ) crosses trunk road 50 ( Košice - Michalovce ), which also forms a section of European route 50.
Bidovce was first mentioned in writing as Beud in 1273 .
The population of the Bidovce municipality consists of almost 94% Slovaks , 52% of the inhabitants profess the Reformed Church , 31% of the inhabitants stated Roman Catholic and approx. 3% Greek Catholic as their denomination (figures from 1991).
