Ďurkov (Hungarian Györke ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 490 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of Košický kraj heard and in the historical landscape Abov is.
geography
The municipality is located in the Oľšava valley , geomorphologically belonging to the Košická kotlina basin , at the transition to the Slanské vrchy mountains . The almost 10 km² large municipal area extends from the valley floor over slightly mountainous fields and meadows to the mountain Bogota ( 854 m nm ) in the Slanské vrchy. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 261 m nm and is 19 kilometers east of Košice .
history
Ďurkov was first mentioned in writing in 1323 as a cucumber . In 1427 the village belonged to the Ruszkai family and had 51 portals . In 1828 there were 77 houses and 546 inhabitants.
Until 1919, the place in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary because of the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Ďurkov had 1692 inhabitants, 1461 of them Slovaks, 92 Roma, 15 Magyars and 2 Czechs. 122 residents did not answer. 988 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 381 residents the Reformed Church, 36 residents the Evangelical Church, 28 residents the Greek Catholic Church and 18 residents the Jehovah's Witnesses. 49 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 174 inhabitants has not been determined.
