Ruskov (Hungarian Regeteruszka ) is a municipality in southeastern Slovakia .
The municipality of Ruskov is located about 15 kilometers east of Košice in a right side valley of the Olšava , a 50-kilometer tributary of the Hornád . To the east of Ruskov rises the Slanské vrchy mountain range with the 856 meter high Bogota . The mountain cut between Ruskov and Slanec with a pass height of 330 meters is used by the only railway line that leads over the mountains. The wide Hornád valley as part of the Košická kotlina basin extends southwest of the municipality .
Ruskov is surrounded by the neighboring communities Ďurkov in the north, Slančík in the east, Blažice in the south and Vyšný Čaj in the west.
Road 576 runs through Ruskov from Bohdanovce via Bidovce to Vranov nad Topľou . The Ruskov commune station is on the Košice - Michalovce or Košice - Chop ( Ukraine ) line. The broad-gauge Uzhhorod – Košice line , which was built for the transport of iron ore to the Haniska steelworks , runs parallel to the railway line to Ukraine and thus past Ruskov .
Andesite is mined in a quarry east of the municipality .
The place Ruskov was first mentioned in writing in 1204. The Roman Catholic Church was established in 1938.
The population of the Ruskov municipality consists of almost 98% Slovaks . 80% of the population profess the Roman Catholic Church .
