Bodva , in Hungarian Bódva , is a river in southern eastern Slovakia and northeastern Hungary . It rises in the Volovec Mountains , part of the Slovak Ore Mountains , and crosses the Hungarian border southwest of Hosťovce after 48.4 kilometers on Slovak territory. At Boldva , after a total of 113 kilometers, it flows into the Sajó from the north and is thus one of its left tributaries.

At the state border the mean flow rate is 5 m³ / s, the water catchment area covers 890 km².
