society

Gerritsen has been part of the professional squad of FC Twente Enschede since 2005/06 . Before that, he played in the club's youth department. In his first year as a professional he made 24 appearances and scored six hits. After Fred Rutten became a coach in Enschede, Gerritsen moved into the second tier. After he was used three times in 2006/07 , he did not complete a league minute in the following season. Even under new coach Steve McClaren , the attacker was only a substitute and was overshadowed by players like Blaise Nkufo , Kenneth Perez and Marko Arnautović . In the summer of 2009, the striker was finally loaned to the second division Go Ahead Eagles Deventer . There Gerritsen came back to more assignments and reached fifth place with his team at the end of the season.
