Yanacachi is a settlement in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Yanacachi is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Yanacachi in the Sud Yungas province . The village is picturesquely situated at an altitude of 2042  m on a ridge between the Río Takesi and Río Unduavi , which both drain over the Río Boopi to the Río Beni .

Yanacachi is located in the Bolivian Yungas on the eastern slope of the high mountain ridge of the Cordillera Real . The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than in the course of the seasons.

The annual average temperature of the region is 12 ° C, the monthly values ​​fluctuate only insignificantly between almost 10 ° C in June / July and almost 14 ° C in November / December (see Yapacani climate diagram). The annual precipitation is about 1000 mm, the monthly precipitation is between about 10 mm in the months of June and July and a little more than 150 mm from December to February.

Transport network

Yanacachi is located 157 kilometers by road east of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz the paved road Ruta 3 leads in a north-easterly direction for 60 kilometers to Unduavi , from there the unpaved Ruta 25 branches off to Chulumani in a south-easterly direction and follows the course of the Río Unduavi . After about 25 kilometers, a side road leads to the right for a further six kilometers to Yanacachi and from there to the miners' settlement of La Chojlla , located on an old Inca path .
