The municipality Yanacachi is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andean country Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Yanacachi is one of five Municipios of the Sud Yungas Province and is located in the southwestern part of the province. It borders the province of Nor Yungas to the north, the province of Murillo to the west, the municipality of Irupana to the south , and the municipality of Chulumani to the east .

The municipality has 40 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Yanacachi with 314 inhabitants in the northern part of the municipality. The largest town in the municipality is the La Chojlla mining settlement with 1,573 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Yanacachi is located in the Bolivian Yungas at an average altitude of 2000  m on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real . The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with the mean temperature fluctuation during the day being more pronounced than during the seasons.

The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see Coroico climate diagram) and has a clear dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 20 ° C and 25 ° C, during the day it is warm in summer and pleasantly cool at night.
