Patrick Hoogmartens (born May 19, 1952 in Tongeren ) is a Belgian clergyman and bishop of Hasselt .

Life

Patrick Hoogmartens was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Hasselt on July 4, 1982 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on July 8, 1997 Coadjutor Bishop of Hasselt. The bishop of Hasselt, Paul Schruers , donated him episcopal ordination on October 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Godfried Cardinal Danneels , Archbishop of Mechlin-Brussels and Military Bishop of Belgium , Eugeen Laridon , Auxiliary Bishop in Bruges , Alexis Habiyambere SJ , Bishop of Nyundo , and Albert Jean Charles Ghislain Houssiau , Bishop of Liège .

When Paul Schruer retired on October 25, 2004, he succeeded him as Bishop of Hasselt.
