The Latin America region is one of the eight international regions that send participants to the Little League Baseball World Series , the largest baseball tournament for teenagers. The Latin America region has been participating in this tournament as an independent region since 1958. In 1957, the teams from Mexico were able to qualify for the Little League World Series via the regional championship of the United States and also win them. Since 2001 the Caribbean countries and Mexico no longer play in the Latin America group, but have their own groups (see Mexico region and Caribbean region ).
