The West Region was one of four regions in the United States that sent participants to the Little League Baseball World Series , the largest youth baseball tournament. The West Region was founded in 1957. Until 1966, western Canada was also organized in this region. From 1962 Hawaii, which previously played in the Pacific region, became part of this organization. By doubling the field of participants from 2001, the northwest region was split off from the west region. (See Region West since 2001. )
