The Great Lakes region is one of the eight regions of the United States that sends participants to the Little League Baseball World Series , the largest youth baseball tournament. The Great Lakes region has been taking part in this tournament since 1957, back then under the name Region Zentral . When the field of participants doubled in 2001, the Central region was divided into the Great Lakes and Midwest regions.

The Great Lakes region has its own definition of which states belong to it and which do not coincide with the area normally known as Great Lakes . On the one hand, the definition only refers to the US states; on the other hand, only five states in this region are also located on the Great Lakes:

•  Illinois
•  Indiana
•  Michigan
•  Ohio
•  Wisconsin

A state nowhere borders on one of the Great Lakes:

•  Kentucky

The other states bordering the Great Lakes are organized in the Mid-Atlantic region ( New York and Pennsylvania ) or the Midwest region ( Minnesota ). The areas in Canada are incorporated into the Canada region .
