Patrick Opdenhövel (born February 27, 1964 in Duisburg ) is a German historian , ministerial and political official and politician ( CDU ). He has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia since June 30, 2017 .

Life

Education and scientific activity

After his Abitur at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium in Duisburg- Ruhrort (1983) Opdenhövel took up a study in the subjects of modern history , political science and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster on (1983-1992), which he with the promotion ended . Political career

Between 1993 and 1996, Opdenhövel was the state manager of the Junge Union in Hesse. On June 30, 2017, Patrick Opdenhövel was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of North Rhine-Westphalia by Prime Minister Armin Laschet in the course of the formation of the Laschet cabinet . He became the successor to Rüdiger Messal .
