Patrik Barbic (born September 13, 1981 ) is a former Austrian football player and now coach .

Career

As a player

Barbic started his career at SK Rapid Vienna . In 1996 he moved to ASV 13 . For the 1997/98 season he joined the KSV Ankerbrot Montelaa , where he also played his first games in the Vienna City League .

For the 2003/04 season he moved to the regional division Wiener Sportklub . In September 2003 he made his debut in the Regionalliga when he came on as a substitute for Oliver Graf on the seventh match day of that season against DSV Fortuna 05 in the 65th minute . By the end of the season he made twelve appearances for the Viennese in the Eastern League. After a year at the sports club, he returned to the fourth-class KSV Ankerbrot Montelaa for the 2004/05 season.

In January 2005 Barbic moved to the regional division DSV Fortuna 05. In April 2005, he scored his first goal in the third-highest division in a 3-1 defeat against First Vienna FC . With Fortuna he had to relegate to the city league at the end of the season as the penultimate of the Regionalliga Ost. He then moved to the 2005/06 season for regional division SC Eisenstadt . By the winter break he had played 14 games for Burgenland in the regional league and scored three goals. After six months at Eisenstadt, he moved to league rivals ASK Kottingbrunn in January 2006 . With Kottingbrunn, however, he had to relegate the second to last from the regional league at the end of the season.

Then Barbic moved to the fifth-class SV Waidhofen / Thaya for the 2006/07 season . In the winter break of the 2007/08 season, Barbic moved to Slovenia for the first division club NK Ivančna Gorica . He made his debut in the 1st SNL in March 2008 when he was in the starting line-up against NK Maribor on matchday 22 of that season . On the following day he scored his only goal in the Slovenian top division in a 3-0 win against NK Primorje . By the end of the season he made four appearances in the 1st SNL, from which he had to relegate with his club as bottom of the table.

After relegation Barbic returned to Austria for the 2008/09 season and moved to fifth-rate FC Purkersdorf . During the winter break of that season he moved to the fourth-class Kremser SC . At the end of the season, however, he rose with Krems from the regional league . He then joined the fourth-class Rennweger SV 1901 for the 2009/10 season . After six months at Rennweg, he moved to the seventh-class USC Kirchschlag in January 2010 .

In January 2012 Barbic moved to the fifth-class club SV Loipersbach from Burgenland . After he was relegated with Loipersbach from the fifth division, he joined the fifth division FC Jois for the 2012/13 season . However, at the end of the season he was also relegated with Jois. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the fifth-class Lower Austrian club ASK Wilhelmsburg .

After two and a half years at Wilhelmsburg, Barbic moved to seventh-class 1. FC Leonhofen in January 2016 . After half a year with Leonhofen, he returned to Wilhelmsburg for the 2016/17 season. With the club he rose to the sixth highest division at the end of that season.

Barbic also played futsal for Stella Rossa tipp3 between 2010 and 2018 .

As a trainer

Barbic trained in the AKA St. Pölten from 2013 . At first he was assistant coach to Goran Zvijerac in the U-15 team, from 2014 he also supported him in the U-16 team. Between 2015 and 2018 he was Zvijerac's assistant trainer for the St. Pölten U-18 team. After AKA St. Pölten terminated the contract with Zvijerac in June 2018, Barbic looked after the U-18 team as head coach until the end of the 2017/18 season. After the end of the season he also left the academy.

In June 2018 Barbic became the first coach of the Austrian national futsal team, which had recently been established .
