The Austrian national futsal team is a representative selection of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB), which will represent Austria at international matches in futsal , the only version of indoor football recognized by FIFA , from 2019 .

history

A futsal league was first introduced in Austria in November 2010. In April 2018, a national futsal team was finally brought into being by the ÖFB.

In June 2018 the former St. Pöltner academy trainer Patrik Barbic was appointed national trainer , his assistants were Aleksandar Ristovski and René Gaida. Barbic previously worked for the Austrian futsal club Stella Rossa tipp3 .

Finally, under Barbic, the first course took place in Lindabrunn in October 2018 . Various former players from the regional league took part and with Mirza Jatic also a former professional footballer.

In February 2019 it was finally announced that the Austrian national team would play their first two matches in an international match against Germany in April 2019 at the federal sports center in Maria Enzersdorf . Both games ended in a 2-2 draw.
