When applying to host the World Cup, Colombia suggested the cities of Bogotá , Villavicencio , Bucaramanga , Cúcuta , Ibagué and Neiva as host cities . After an audit, four stadiums were confirmed in October 2014 and Neiva was given more time for renovations before a decision was made against the city a little later.

On November 11, the Colombian Football Association announced the four venues. Medellín later replaced Villavicencio.

After further checks, Ibagué was removed from the list in January 2016. Thus, two groups each played their games in the remaining three arenas.

draw

The group draw took place on May 19, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. local time ( UTC − 5 ) at the Plaza Mayor Conference Center in Medellín . The positioning was dependent on previous Futsal World Cups and the continental competitions, with the host Colombia being automatically set to group position A1. On the other hand, for reasons of ticket sales, the host and the two best teams (Brazil and Spain) were drawn to different venues - Cali (group A and C), Medellín (group B and F) and Bucaramanga (group D and E). Teams from the same confederation could not meet in a group. The exception was a group with two teams from Europe.
