The Solomonic national futsal team is a representative selection of Solomon's futsal players . The team represents the Solomon Islands football association at international matches. The team won the Oceania Championship four times in a row from 2008 to 2011 and in 2008 was the second Solomonic selection to take part in the finals of a FIFA competition after the national beach soccer team. Despite the successes in Oceania and the three appearances in the World Cup , the country does not have its own futsal court. Shortly after the 2016 World Cup in Colombia , the Solomon Islands government, together with the Solomon Islands Football Association, announced that they would be building a futsal pitch in the east of the capital Honiara with financial support from FIFA .
“Our national futsal team has been successful regionally and has been to the FIFA Futsal World Cup three times in succession so this court must be built for their training and competitions. The government is happy to support this project in partnership with SIFF and see this facility built. "
Performing in tournaments
The Solomonic selection took part in the Oceania Championship for the first time in 2004 and was second to last. Four years later one benefited from the absence of the serial winner Australia , whose association had switched to the Asian Football Confederation in 2006 . By winning the Oceania Championships, they qualified for the 2008 World Cup in Brazil , although they had no chance and lost to Russia , among others, with a record result of 31: 2. After the World Cup, the Solomon national team maintained its supremacy in Oceania and also won the following three competitions in 2009, 2010 and 2011. With the victory in the 2011 edition, the team also qualified for the 2012 World Cup in Thailand . The Solomon Islands celebrated their first World Cup victory 4: 3 against the Guatemalan selection in the 2012 World Cup . At the World Cup in Brazil in 2016 , the team was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round.
