The 11th European Futsal Championship was held from January 30th to February 10th 2018 in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana . Twelve national teams took part in the tournament, initially in groups and then in a knockout system . The Portuguese team won the title for the first time with a 3-2 win after extra time against Spain . The best player and top scorer was the Portuguese Ricardinho .

Award

At its meeting in Nyon on January 26, 2015, the UEFA Executive Committee decided that the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, would host the 2018 European Futsal Championship . The application of the Slovenian Football Association (NZS) prevailed against those of the Romanian Football Association (FRF) and that of the Football Association of Macedonia (FFM).

Venues

The European Championship was held in the modern Stožice Arena with a capacity of 12,480 spectators, which was the largest sports hall in Slovenia at the time of the event.

qualification

Attendees

The European Championship 2018 was played for the fifth time with twelve teams. Slovenia was automatically qualified to host. A total of 47 nations competed for the remaining eleven places. In the first round, the 24 teams with the worst UEFA coefficient play against each other in seven groups. The group winners advanced to the next round, where they were drawn into seven groups of four along with the 21 remaining teams. The group winners and the four play-off winners finally qualified for the finals.

The twelve participants in the final round were drawn into four groups.
