The 10th European Futsal Championship was held from February 2nd to 13th, 2016 in the Serbian capital Belgrade . Twelve national teams took part in the tournament, initially in groups and then in a knockout system . The tournament ambassador was Dejan Stanković .

Award

At its meeting in Istanbul on March 20, 2012, the UEFA Executive Committee decided that the Serbian capital Belgrade would host the 2016 European Futsal Championship . The application of the Serbian Football Association (FSS) prevailed against those of the Bulgarian Football Association (BFS) and that of the Football Association of Macedonia (FFM).

Venues

The European Championship was held in the modern Belgrade Arena with a capacity of 18,386 spectators, which is currently the largest sports hall in Serbia and one of the largest in Europe.

qualification

Attendees

The 2016 European Championship was played for the fourth time with twelve teams. Serbia was automatically qualified to host. A total of 42 nations competed for the remaining eleven places. In the first round, the 24 teams with the worst UEFA coefficient played against each other in four groups. The group winners advanced to the next round, where they were drawn into six groups of four along with the 18 remaining teams. The group first and the five best second finally qualified for the finals.

The twelve participants in the final round were drawn into four groups.
