The 9th European Futsal Championship was held from January 28th to February 8th 2014 in Antwerp ( Belgium ). Twelve national teams took part in the tournament, initially in groups and then in a knockout system . After 2003 Italy was able to celebrate the second title win at a European championship.
The European Championship was held for the fifth time at two different venues, but they were in one city ( Antwerp ). The preliminary round was held in the Lotto Arena . The hall has a capacity of 5,218 spectators. The final round was held in the Sportpaleis with a capacity of 15,089 spectators.

The 2014 European Championship was played for the third time with twelve teams. Belgium was automatically qualified to host. A total of 42 nations competed for the remaining eleven places. In the first round, the 24 teams with the worst UEFA coefficient played against each other in four groups. The group winners advanced to the next round, where they were drawn into six groups of four together with the 18 remaining teams. The group first and the five best second finally qualified for the finals.
The twelve participants in the final round were drawn into four groups.
