The Romanian national futsal team is a representative selection of Romanian futsal players . The team represents the Romanian Football Association at international matches.
Performing in tournaments
The Romanian national team started playing in 2003, but subsequently missed qualifying for the European and World Cup finals. In 2007 they qualified for the European Championship finals , where they failed in the preliminary round to Italy and Portugal, but placed ahead of the Czech Republic. In 2012 they take part again in the European Championship.
In 2009 and 2010 they took part in the Grand Prix de Futsal at the invitation of the Brazilian Association . In 2009, after victories over Costa Rica, Uruguay and Argentina, they reached the semi-finals, in which they lost to hosts Brazil with a 12-0 record defeat. In the game for 3rd place, they then defeated the Czech Republic. A year later they finished third in the group stage behind Spain and Argentina and finished the tournament in 14th place after the consolation round.
