European Futsal Championship 2010

The 7th European Futsal Championship was held from January 19th to 30th, 2010 in Hungary . Twelve national teams took part in the tournament, initially in groups and then in a knockout system . The Spanish team won the title for the third time in a row .

Papp László Budapest Sportaréna

The EM was held for the third time in two different venues. The main venue was the Főnix Hall in Debrecen , in which, in addition to two preliminary round groups and two quarter-finals, the semi-finals and finals were held. The hall with a capacity of 6,500 is the second largest in Hungary.

The Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in the capital Budapest served as the second venue. In addition to two preliminary round groups, Hungary's largest sports hall with 7,700 seats was also the venue for two quarter-finals.

Attendees

At the European Championship 2010, the field of participants was increased from eight to twelve teams, Hungary was automatically qualified as host. A total of 39 nations competed for the remaining eleven places. In a first round, the 16 teams with the worst UEFA coefficient played against each other in four groups. The group winners and the best runner-up advanced to the next round, where they were drawn together with the 23 remaining teams in seven groups of four. The first in the group, as well as the four best second, finally qualified for the finals.

The twelve participants in the final round were drawn into four groups.

Golden Shoe

The golden shoe for the tournament's best striker was won by the Spaniard Javi Rodríguez , the Italian Saad Assis , the Portuguese Joel Queirós and Biro Jade from Azerbaijan with five goals each.
