Patrik Parkkonen (born January 23, 1993 in Porvoo ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL since September 2019 .

Career

Parkkonen was trained in the youth department of HIFK and came to work in the Finnish junior national teams in the age groups U16, U17, U18 and U20.

From 2010 to 2012 he played in Canada for the WHL club Medicine Hat Tigers and then returned to his home country. This was followed by three years with the first division club Porin Ässät , with whom he won the Finnish championship in 2013.

In October 2015 Parkkonen received a contract from the German second division club Lausitzer Füchse until the end of December, which was then extended until the end of the season. In the 2016/17 season he was the top defender of the entire DEL2 with 50 points scorer.

He spent the 2017/18 season in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan at BIK Karlskoga and IK Oskarshamn before he was signed by Orli Znojmo from the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in early summer 2018 .
