Paul-Friedrich Martins

Paul-Friedrich Martins (born December 28, 1928 in Rostock ; † May 10, 2015 in Neubrandenburg ) was an Evangelical Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Paul-Friedrich Martins grew up in Rostock, Schwerin and Güstrow . In 1937 the family moved to Osterode am Harz , where Paul Martin's father (1899–1982) had become head of the municipal building department. In 1948 he made his high school and then studied in Hamburg , Erlangen and Göttingen Theology . In 1957 he completed the second theological exam in Schwerin. In 1962 he married in Sülsdorf , where he administered the pastor's office.

Martins was appointed to the leadership of the Action atonement of the GDR . In 1968 he took over one of the parish posts at St. Johanneskirche in Neubrandenburg. During the turn in autumn 1989 were his important tasks in the organization and implementation of peace prayers , the lights demonstrations and discussion forums transmitted. At the beginning of 1991 he took over the pastoral care of soldiers at the military base in Neubrandenburg. In 1993 he took his professional retirement.

In January 1992 Martins became a member of the Fritz Reuter Society , of which he was managing director for 12 years from 1997. Until his death he was on the company's advisory board. In 2006 Martins was awarded the Fritz Reuter Society's letter of honor.

Paul-Friedrich Martins died as a result of a serious accident that he had suffered while on an errand through the city. He was buried in Weitin on May 18, 2015.
