Paul-Marie Rousset

Paul-Marie François Rousset IdP (born August 27, 1921 in Grièges , † January 9, 2016 in Bourg-en-Bresse , France ) was a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Saint-Etienne .

Life

Paul-Marie François Rousset joined the secular institute Istituto del Prado and was ordained a priest on February 24, 1945 . After working as an accountant and teacher at the seminary of the diocese of Belley from 1948 , he became vicar general of this diocese in 1958 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 24, 1966 auxiliary bishop in Lyon and titular bishop of Utimma . The Bishop of Belley, René-Fernand-Eugène Fourrey , donated him episcopal ordination on March 6 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Lyon Marius-Félix-Antoine Maziers and Alfred-Jean-Félix Ancel .

Paul VI appointed him on February 23, 1971 as the first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Saint-Étienne . On September 28, 1987, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation for health reasons. He then worked as a pastor in the diocese of Belley-Ars before retiring completely in 1997. He died in January 2016 at the age of 94.
