Grièges is a French commune with 1,876 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton Vonnas (until 2015: canton Pont-de-Veyle ).
geography
Grièges is located in the Bresse countryside about five kilometers east-southeast of Mâcon and about 29 kilometers west-northwest of Bourg-en-Bresse . The Saône runs along the western edge of the municipality and the Veyle runs along the northern boundary . Grièges is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Laurent-sur-Saône in the north, Crottet in the north and northeast, Pont-de-Veyle in the northeast, Laiz in the east, Cruzilles-lès-Mépillat in the southeast, Cormoranche-sur-Saône in the south, Varennes-lès-Mâcon in the west and Mâcon in the north-west.
