Montcet is a French municipality with 691 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Attignat .

The municipality is located in the Bresse countryside , around 25 kilometers southeast of Mâcon and eight kilometers west of Bourg-en-Bresse . Neighboring municipalities of Montcet are Polliat in the north, Buellas in the east, Montracol in the south and Vandeins in the west.

The place is located in the valley of the river Irance , which, coming from the southwest, draws a large loop in the municipal area and finally strives towards the west towards the Veyle .

The municipality's own area is accessed by the D67 (from Polliat towards Saint-André-sur-Vieuc-Jonc ) and D45 (from Vandeins towards Buellas ).
