Mézériat is a French commune with 2,172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Vonnas (until 2015: canton of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne ). The inhabitants are called Mézériatis .

geography

Mézériat is located in the Bresse countryside about 17 kilometers east-southeast of Mâcon and about 14 kilometers west of Bourg-en-Bresse . Here the Irance flows into the Veyle . Mézériat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Confrançon in the north, Polliat in the east, Vandeins in the south-east, Chaveyriat in the south, Vonnas in the south-west, Perrex in the west and Saint-Genis-sur-Menthon in the north-west.
