Reyssouze is a French commune of 980 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Replonges in the Bourg-en-Bresse arrondissement .

geography

Reyssouze is a street village near the confluence of the Reyssouze river with the Saône . The municipality is located in the west of the Bresse , about 45 kilometers northwest of Bourg-en-Bresse , more spaciously about halfway between the cities of Dijon in the north and Lyon in the south, about 100 kilometers away .

history

  • The place Reyssouze was mentioned as early as the 6th century.
  • In 1606 a Protestant church was built in the village, but it was destroyed again in 1684.
  • Reyssouze became an independent municipality in 1845.

Attractions

There are old manors in Reyssouze next to the Saint-Claude church. Particularly worth seeing is the Ferme Coulas, classified as a Monument Historique , with its Sarrasine fireplace , a chimney shaped like a bishop's cap , which is characteristic of Bresse .
