Illiat ( Illiat ) is a French municipality with 627 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne (until 2015: canton Thoissey ) in the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse . The inhabitants are called Illiatis .

geography

Illiat is on the border of the Bresse and Dombes landscapes , about 30 kilometers west of the prefecture of Bourg-en-Bresse and about 14 kilometers south-southeast of Mâcon . Illiat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cruzilles-lès-Mépillat in the north, Saint-André-d'Huiriat in the north and northeast, Saint-Julien-sur-Veyle in the east and northeast, Sulignat in the east, L'Abergement-Clémenciat in the east and South-east, Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne in the south, Saint-Didier-sur-Chalaronne in the west and south-west and Garnerans in the north-west.
