Saint-Martin-le-Châtel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montrevel-en-Bresse and Malafretaz in the north, Bresse Vallons with Cras-sur-Reyssouze in the north-east, Attignat in the east, Polliat in the south and south-east, Curtafond in the south and west and Saint -Didier-d'Aussiat to the west and north-west.
