Chaneins is a French municipality with 910 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Villars-les-Dombes (until 2015: canton of Saint-Trivier-sur-Moignans ). The inhabitants are called the Chaneinois .

geography

Chaneins is located about 37 kilometers north of Lyon on the western edge of the Dombes landscape, rich in lakes . Chaneins is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Valeins in the north, Baneins in the northeast, Saint-Trivier-sur-Moignans in the south and east, Amareins-Francheleins-Cesseins in the south and southwest, Montceaux in the west and Peyzieux-sur-Saône in the northwest.
