Montracol is located about eight kilometers west-southwest of Bourg-en-Bresse in the historic province of Bresse . Neighboring municipalities of Montracol are Montcet in the north, Buellas in the northeast, Saint-Rémy in the east, Saint-André-sur-Vieux-Jonc in the south and southeast, Condeissiat in the south and southwest, Chaveyriat in the west and Vandeins in the northwest.
