Polliat is a commune with 2,511 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Administratively it belongs to the Arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and is part of the canton of Attignat (until 2015: canton of Viriat ). The inhabitants are called Polliatis .

Polliat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-le-Châtel in the north and north-west, Attignat in the north and north-east, Viriat in the east and north-east, Saint-Denis-lès-Bourg in the south-east, Buellas in the south and south-east, Montcet in the south and Southwest, Vandeins in the southwest, Mézériat in the west, Confrançon in the west and northwest and Curtafond in the northwest.
