Saint-Jean-sur-Veyle is located in the Bresse countryside about eight kilometers southeast of Mâcon and about 24 kilometers west-northwest of Bourg-en-Bresse am Veyle . Saint-Jean-sur-Veyle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-de-Bâgé in the north, Bâgé-Dommartin in the north and northeast, Saint-Cyr-sur-Menthon in the east, Perrex in the southeast, Biziat in the south and southeast, Laiz in the south and south-west, Pont-de-Veyle in the west and Crottet in the west and north-west.
