Saint-Marcel is located in the middle of the lake landscape of the Dombes , about 34 kilometers south-southwest of the prefecture of Bourg-en-Bresse . Saint-Marcel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lapeyrouse in the north, Birieux in the east, Montluel in the south and south-east, Saint-André-de-Corcy in the south and south-west and Monthieux in the west.
