Nivigne et Suran is a French municipality with 814 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the canton of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois in the Arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and is a member of the Bassin de Bourg-en-Bresse municipal association .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2017 from the merger of the former municipalities of Chavannes-sur-Suran and Germagnat , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The seat of the municipality is in the locality of Chavannes-sur-Suran .

Nivigne et Suran is located about 15 kilometers east-northeast of Bourg-en-Bresse in the Revermont and on the river Suran . The neighboring municipalities are Bourcia , Pouillat and Montfleur in the north, Villeneuve-lès-Charnod in the northeast, Aromas in the east, Corveissiat in the east and southeast, Simandre-sur-Suran in the south and Val-Revermont with Treffort-Cuisiat in the west.
