The location of Germagnat in the Ain department

Germagnat is a village and a former French commune of 144 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belonged to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois .

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Chavannes-sur-Suran and Germagnat were merged to form a nouvelle commune called Nivigne et Suran and have the status of a déléguée commune in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Chavannes-sur-Suran.

The village lies in the Revermont countryside and is passed by the Suran River .

history

Germagnat was one of the hometowns of the Toulongeon family , namely Jean II de Toulongeon .
