Savigneux is a French commune with 1,351 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Ain department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Villars-les-Dombes .
geography
The municipality is located on the western edge of the Dombes landscape , twelve kilometers east of Villefranche-sur-Saône and 40 kilometers north of Lyon .

Attractions
- The late medieval castle Juis ( Château de Juis ) from the 14th century, built entirely of red brick. It is a listed building .
- The 12th century Romanesque church of Saint Laurent . The bell tower with the slate roof decorated with symbols is remarkable .
- Founded in the year 1000 the Priory of Montberthoud was an offshoot of the Cluny Abbey and was almost completely destroyed. Only part of the facade has been preserved, which was incorporated into a newer building.
