Chalamont is a French commune with 2,451 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It was the capital of the canton of Chalamont until the reorganization of the French cantons in 2015 and then became the canton of Ceyzériat in the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse .

geography

The municipality of Chalamont is located in the forest and lake landscape of the Bresse , about 25 kilometers south of Bourg-en-Bresse . The river Veyle rises to the east of the city .
