Vonnas is a French commune with 2,961 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse and the canton of Vonnas .

geography

The municipality is located in the Bresse countryside , around 20 kilometers southeast of Mâcon and just as far west of Bourg-en-Bresse . Neighboring communities of Vonnas are:

The place itself is on the left bank of the river Veyle , at the confluence of its left tributary Renon . The eastern municipal area is also drained from the Bief d'Arcon to the Veyle.

Transport links

Vonnas is on the railway line from Bourg-en-Bresse to Mâcon and has its own train station.

The municipal area is served by the departmental roads D80 (from Neuville-les-Dames to Saint-Cyr-sur-Menthon ) and D26. The latter represents a feeder to the higher-level road connections A40 and D1079, which run further north .
