Paul Abbott
Paul Abbott (born February 22, 1960 in Burnley , Lancashire , England ) is a British film producer and screenwriter . He is best known for the television series Shameless .
Life
Abbott started his career writing audiobooks for BBC Radio 4 . He then worked for eight years as an editor and from 1989 as a writer . In 1988 he wrote his first television drama screenplay with colleague Kay Mellor . That same year, he and Mellor co-wrote the children's medical drama Children's Ward . In 1994 he worked as a producer. His first breakthrough came with his own program, the police drama Touching Evil in 1997. His greatest success was the series Shameless and its remake , in which he was involved as a producer and author.
In 2006 he received an Emmy for his work on the television film The Girl in the Café . He has been nominated for the BAFTA TV Award several times, in 1995 and 2001 he received the award. He also won the Dennis Potter Award in 2004. His other awards include a. the Edgar Allan Poe Award in 2005.
