Shameless is a British television series of the radio station Channel 4 , which is about the Gallaghers, a family from the working class, and their financial and social problems. The series began broadcasting on January 13, 2004 and ended on May 28, 2013 after eleven seasons and 139 episodes.
The series has won several prizes and awards, including a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series and a British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Drama .

At the center of the plot are the six children of the Gallagher family, Fiona (and her boyfriend Steve), Lip, Ian, Carl, Debbie and Liam, who are mostly self-sufficient because their mother left the family years ago and their father Frank is an alcoholic and is not of any help to the family. The siblings are supported by their friends and neighbors Kev and Veronica. The Maguire family later joins the story after most of the Gallagher children have left their surroundings.

Charisma
The first season aired on Channel 4 from January 13 through February 24, 2004 . The ten episodes of the second season followed from January 4 to March 8, 2005. The premiere of the third season took place on January 10, 2006. The season ended on February 21, 2006. The fourth season aired from January 9 to February 27, 2007. The fifth, sixth and seventh seasons each comprise 16 episodes that were broadcast from January 1 to April 15, 2008, from January 27 to May 12, 2009 and from January 26 to May 11, 2010. The eighth season, which consists of a total of 22 episodes and is thus the longest, was broadcast in two parts. The first 13 episodes aired from January 10th to March 8th, 2011. The remaining nine episodes were broadcast from August 30 to October 25, 2011. The ninth season aired between January 9 and March 13, 2012. The broadcast of the tenth season began on September 12 and ended on November 1, 2012. The final 14 episodes of the final eleventh season were broadcast from February 29 to May 28, 2013.
Remake
In January 2009, US broadcaster HBO began negotiations with John Wells to bring an American version of Shameless to screens. These negotiations were preceded by negotiations between series creator Paul Abbott and the NBC network , which ended without result.
In October 2009, the project finally moved to Showtime , which ordered a pilot episode in December 2009. The role of Frank Gallagher is embodied in this by William H. Macy . The series premiered on January 9, 2011 in the United States and currently has ten seasons.
